The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) is a member of the Houston Independent School District (HISD). The new school building, comprised mostly of core learning spaces, is five stories tall and covered 166,000 square feet. The school received LEED Certification under the LEED 2009 for School certification program. Notable achievements include 100 percent covered parking, a 35 percent reduction in potable water use, a 53 percent reduction in irrigation water use, and a 15 percent energy cost savings. Additionally, the school enacted a Green Cleaning Policy to promote a healthier environment for students and staff. GreeNexus was the LEED Consultant to the Contractor on this project.
